C&S Week 1 Card 5 - Thinking Of You

One layer cards may look easy but it sure wasn't easy as I got planning on my card. I saw this card by Julie Ebersole and I thought to case it.

Julie calls it "No Mess Letterpress, More Letterpress Love" but though it wasn't messy on the card, it was getting messy in my head and on my scrap paper. Well this class is all about learning so there's no learning if you don't go wrong. I got too adventurous with my stamping and the card just went off from CAS to busy with no meaning.

So here is my 2nd attempt:

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Vintage Cream
Inks - SU Chocolate Chip, Concord Crush, Pacific Point

Stamps - Wplus9 Woodgrain Silhouettes, Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions, HA Thinking Of You
Others - WRMK 1/2" Corner Chomper

Card 22 - Happy Birthday

I've been on a hiatus. Well hb has been on the morning shift so I don't usually craft since he'll be using the area to watch tv and play on his playstation. I'll have to find some way around that for the subsequent weeks since I've signed up for the Holiday Card Boot Camp. I'm excited for the class to start and to learn more.

Well my mum's birthday is around the corner and here is a card I made for her. I bought this stamp the moment I saw a card done by Jennifer McGuire. However I didn't really make any card with it till now. I used the technique shown on Jennifer McGuire's blog using distress inks and liquid pearls. My mum's favorite color is purple so I based the card around those shades.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Stamper's Select White, Autumn Rose, Lavender Moon
Inks - Distress Ink Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord, Victorian Velvet,  Shabby Shutters,  Forest Moss, Ripe Persimmons, Wild Honey, Versamark, Jenni Bowlin Brown Sugar
Stamps - Hero Arts Flower Bird Garden, Sweet Threads by Basic Gray,  Birthday Messages (Sentiment), WPlus9 A Special Lady (Inside Sentiment)

Others - Fiskars  Scallop Sentiment, PTI Autumn Rose Satin Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Uni-Ball Signo Broad White Gel Pen, Ranger Liquid Pearls White, Ranger Liquid Pearls Silver

SCC Week 4 Card 1 - Thinking Of You

This is the last week of Summer Card Camp. One thing about this camp besides learning so much and getting so much inspirations from other crafters is that I also ended up making quite a bit of cards. And I'm enjoying every bit of it. I started off with the intention of doing scrapbooking but I started card making first :P I'm not sure how I'll move on after the camp ends. One thing for sure is although it does get you thinking on how you wanna work on the colors but having a color combination did help me to get going on my cards.

Anyway, as I saw the colors of this week's combo, I thought I'll be stumped but as I browsed through my stamp collection, the ideas just flowed from there. Overall I'm quite happy with how my card turned out.

Card Set-up:
1) Stamp flourish background with versamark on a piece of White card stock and white embossed
2) Blend in Tumbled Glass from top card working to the middle of the panel. Blend Shabby Shutters from the bottom up to the middle and overlap a section of Tumbled Glass area. Blend in Broken China just around the top of the panel
3) Using a ruler, pierced a border around the panel and ink the holes with Broken China and Shabby Shutters
4) Prepare card base using Spring Rain card stock and sponged edges with Tumbled Glass
5) Adhered ribbon onto front panel and adhere front panel to card base
6) Die cut label and outline edges with Tumbled Glass.
7) Stamp sentiment using Spiced Tin then stamp floral image with Stick Candy and Seed Packet using rock & roll technique by PTI
8) Adhere label to card front using pop dots

SCC Week 3 Card 5 - Have A Great Day

I did some research when I decided to buy a Cuttlebug that the packaging comes with the A, B & C plates. However when I bought my Cuttlebug which was some time ago, it was the newer model and it didn't come with the C plate. I thought since it is a newer model, they probably did away with the C plate and I left it at that as I didn't own any dies then.

I started buying some dies as I got more involved with doing cards, etc and I couldn't get it to work. Frustrated, I started checking the PTI website and other websites on using PTI dies with Cuttlebug. All of the websites I went to mentioned the use of C plate but they were also demonstrating on the older version of Cuttlebug. Finally after literally taking some time to check out, I gotta find out that the new packaging does not come with C plate and that you have to get it separately. How STUPID is that! I went hunting for the C plate at the local craft stores I know and none of them were selling the C plate. So the only option for me was to buy it online. Gosh! I can't believe all the trouble I had to go through.

Anyway I finally received it today and definitely wanted to try out all the dies that I've bought. So this card is using mainly dies and impression plates.

Card Set-up:
1) Trim White card stock at 4" x 5.25", emboss with Cane Impression and adhere to card base
2) Die cut 2 medium sized and 2 small sized flowers in Red Poppy, stamped matching stamp set with versamark and clear embossed
3) Die cut label in Crumb Cake, stamped matching border and sentiment in Crumb Cake and adhere to card front
4) Layer 1 medium, 1 small flower and a red button together and thread through with Maraschino twine. Work another set the same way and adhere both flowers to card front

Supplies Used:
Paper - SU Crumb Cake, PTI Stampers' Select White, Dark Chocolate, Red Poppy
Inks - SU Crumb Cake, Versamark
Stamps - Hero Arts Friends, WPlus9 Filigreed Frames, PTI Beautiful Blooms II
Others - PTI Cane Impression Plate, PTI Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die, WPlus9 Label Die, Clear Embossing Powder, SU Buttons, Maraschino Twine by The Twinery, Cuttlebug

Summer Card Camp 2011 Week 1 + PTI MIM Polaroid 2-Step Masking Challenge

Today is the start of the Summer Card Camp 2011 which I signed up for. It's being hosted by 2 very talented and sweet ladies Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire. I've actively checked out their blogs which are full of tutorials on card making and techniques. And as a newbie in paper crafting, I figure out I'll definitely be learning even more on this camp.

This is the SCC color challenge of week 1.

I don't wanna reveal how long I spent doing the card but it was pretty long. Besides figuring out on how I want to take on the color challenge, I also wanted to try participating in PTI's Make It Monday - Polaroid 2-Step Masking Challenge. Talk about being overly ambitious :P I'm also still slowly increasing my stamp and ink collection so had to make do with whatever I had.

Anyway here is my card for both of the challenges.

I did the polaroid masking and masked the center. Sponged the edges of the white card (3x4inch) with tumbled glass. Then I masked the edges and stamped in my Daffodil image twice. Colored in with color pencils as I don't have copics. I then cut out one of the daffodil and popped it up with foam adhesive. I sponged the edges of the card with spun sugar and adhered it to a lavender cardstock (3.75x4.5inch).  Sponged the edges again with spun sugar, added white twine and adhered to card base.

The sentiment was stamped, cut out, edges sponged with spun sugar and popped on foam adhesives.

Supplies Used:
Papers - PTI Stamper's Select White, Raspberry Fizz, Bazzil Lavender
Inks - Distress Ink Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass, Versafine Onyx Black, Archival Jet Black
Stamps - Wplus9 A Special Lady, LF Bannerific, PTI Beautiful Blessings
Others - Foam Adhesives, AC White Twine, Faber-Castell Art Grip Aquarelle
