PTI 6th Year Watercolor Challenge - Going To Be Ok

I had some time to participate in Papertrey Ink's Annivesary challenge and today is about watercoloring. Inspired by Kristina Werner's MACM, I used a couple of my favorite distress inks and stamp sets from PTI.

It was fun experimenting and it's been a while I got to try techniques etc. Till later.

Papers - PTI Vintage Cream, Plum Pudding, Watercolor Paper
Inks - Ranger Distress Inks Shaded Lilac, Everygreen Bough, Versamark
Stamps - Happy Hydrangea, Pretty Peonies
Others - Zing Embossing Powder White, Clear, Zig Writer Chocolate, WRMK 1/4" Corner Chomper, Foam Dots

PTI July Blog Hop Challenge - Happy Birthday

I love the inspiration photo from the Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop. It is just such a sweet picture. Drawing inspiration from the bouquet, here is my take:

Not sure if I layered the flowers a little too low as it doesn't show much of the vase. Anyway, I dry embossed the vase and coated it with glossy accents to give it some shine. The card base was also dry embossed.

Papers - PTI Rustic White, Harvest Gold

Inks - PTI Sweet Blush, Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Versafine Onyx Black
Stamps - The Sweet Life, Communique Sentiments Mini, Mega Gracious Vases
Others - PTI The Sweet Life Dies, Quatrefoil CP, Simple Stripes IP, Glossy Accent, Pop Dots

PTI SAF Lights Out - Thinking Of You

I managed to create 3 cards during camp and I was pleased. I'm slow crafter. Nevertheless, I had a great time watching all the tutorials and getting inspired. I was working on this last card which didn't particular fit into any of the challenges. I was inspired by the ribbon techniques shown and also the Stamper's First Aid session.

I had started on this card but didn't like it so I saved whatever possible and ended with this:

My craft table is a mess but I'm too tired to clean up. And before I sign off, A Big Thank You to Papertrey Ink and all the team members for this awesome camp.

Papers - PTI Dark Chocolate, Lemon Tart, Melon Berry
Inks - PTI Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Classic Kraft, SU Chocolate Chip
Stamps - The Sweet Life, BB: Medallions, (Sentiment by HA)
Others - PTI The Sweet Life Dies, Satin Ribbon, Lace Impression Plate, MFT Oval Scallop Doily, Pop Dots

PTI SAF Card Set Challenge

This challenge is to create a card set using either one of the showcased tutorials or designing my own. To date, I've not done any card sets. I saw and loved Jessica Witty's tutorial and decided to use her technique for my cards. The tutorial also features packaging but I have limited supply and decided to recycle a clear box that comes with my stamps.

Here is my take:

I changed a little on the design and I also did a 'kissing technique' using various stamps on 2 of the bigger butterflies. I definitely see myself using this embossing technique again.

Papers - PTI Stampers Select White
Inks - PTI Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Simply Chartreuse, New Leaf, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Smokey Shadow, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Winter Wisteria, Lavender Moon, Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Hibiscus Burst
Stamps - Beautiful Butterflies, Tag-Its, Framed Out, Postmarks, Polka Dot Basics, BB: Houndstooth,  Half & Half, HA Lattice Background
Others - PTI Beautiful Butterflies Die, Double Ended Banner Die, Tag-Its Die, Harvest Gold Felt, Harvest Gold Button, Hemp cord, Hot Glue

PTI SAF Limited Supply Challenge - Life Is Sweet

The challenge is to recreate or design your own card using the limited supply list below:
  • STAMPS: Natural Beauties only (or another floral set as a substitute if needed)
  • PAPERS: Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse
  • RIBBON: Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dot
  • BUTTONS: Simply Chartreuse
Here is my card:

Since I used The Sweet Life to substitute Natural Beauties on my first make-n-take card, I decided to use the same set for this challenge. I hit a few stumbling blocks as I started creating. Realized I only had scrap pieces of Aqua Mist card stock and my Stamper's White card stock were down to 6-7 sheets. I was also glad to find some Simply Chartreuse buttons in my holiday mixed buttons that I bought some time ago which PTI no longer sells.

Supplies Used:

Papers - PTI Stampers Select White, Simply Chartreuse, Aqua Mist
Inks - PTI Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Ocean Tides, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise
Stamps - The Sweet Life
Others - PTI Holiday Mixed Buttons,  Scallop Die, WRMK 1/2" Corner Chomper

SAF Ribbon Techniques Challenge - Birthday Wishes

This challenge involves using ribbon. The PTI design team showed some amazing ways to use ribbons that definitely didn't cross my mind. I don't have much ribbons in my stash so made do with whatever I had on hand. I liked Erin Lincoln's technique and I decided to create my version.

Here is my take:

I am very bad at ribbon tying and Dawn actually showed a tutorial on that and I just had to try tying.

Supplies Used:
Papers - PTI Stampers Select White, Sweet Blush, Pure Poppy
Stamps - PTI Think Big Favs
Others - PTI Diamond Impression Plate, Pure Poppy Twill Ribbon, Fresh Snow Satin Ribbon, Pure Poppy Button, HA Mixed Accents, Versamark, AC Embossing Powder White, AC Twine White, Pop Dots

PTI SAF Make-n-Take - Celebrate Today

I was very happy to have received my PTI July purchases on Friday, a day before the Stamp-a-faire. Didn't expect to receive my order this quick this month as it usually takes longer. I don't have the Natural Beauties stamp set yet so I decided to use my new stamp set The Sweet Life. This is my current favorite and will be one of my most used stamp set. Simply LOVE the dimensional look. I'm still trying to get the hang of using this stamp especially the 3rd step stamping.

Anyway, here is my card:

* I didn't realize the submission of this card is earlier than the rest. So I didn't make it in time. Nevertheless, it was still fun to create this card.

Supplies Used:
Papers - PTI Stampers Select White, Sweet Blush
Inks - PTI Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss, Ranger Distress Ink Antique Linen, Staz-On Jet Black
Stamps - PTI The Sweet Life, Think Big Favs, Harvest Berries
Others - Vellum, WRMK 1/4" Corner Chomper, 1/8" Scor Tape

2012 PTI SAF Meet & Greet

This is my first summer camp with Papertrey Ink. I started crafting only around June 2011 so it's just a year now. Papertrey Ink has become my favorite stamp company with most of my stamp sets from them too.

I'm actually from Singapore currently residing in Idaho, USA. It's been 2 1/2 years since I came to the US and I'll be going back home to Singapore end of this year. Crafting was just coming along in Singapore before I left and scrapbooking was more in trend than card making. I came to US with scrapbooking in mind as I wanted to document my stay here but I started delving into card making first as scrapbooking seemed more intimidating and I really love the idea of personalized cards for my family and friends.

I love the crafting community here and everyone is just so generous with sharing techniques, tips and tricks that I learnt so much just within this 1 year of crafting. I'm happy to be bringing the knowledge that I have and continue when I go back home.

I'm currently using my coffee table as my crafting table, using a portion of the living room for my crafting tools & stuffs:

My PTI Stamp Collection (Thanks to the suggestions from PTI Forum, I can now store more stamps and not worry about space.)
My PTI Paper and Cardstock Collection

Have a great SAF day! And I'll be looking forward to seeing the beautiful creations and getting inspiration from all participants and the design team.

PTI June Blog Hop - Happy Birthday

It's been some time since I participated in PTI's blog hop and did cards. I've been getting on with my scrapbooking so it's this or that.

I thought the colors in the inspiration photo was very unique. It is a color combo that I would never have put together. Here is my take:

I don't have much ribbon in my stash. Tried misting but the color mist I had was not a match. So I decided to use a neutral color trim.

Supplies Used:
Papers - PTI Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist
Inks - PTI New Leaf, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold, JBS Brown Sugar
Stamps - PTI Happy Hydrangea, Harvest  Berries, Pretty Peonies, Daydreamer, Communique Sentiments Mini Set
Others - Pop Dots, WRMK Distress Tool, SU Crochet Trim, 1/4" Scor Tape

PTI MIM #68 - Take Time To Remember

This week's PTI's MIM #68 is on pocket cards.

I wanted to do a card for Father's Day using this technique. I do not own any masculine stamp sets so I decided to choose something pretty neutral. Not sure if the card turned out on the girly side. I chose Lemon Tart as my base as yellow is my dad's favorite color.

Here is my take:

I used Copic marker to add a little shading to the leaves. Turned out I had a super juicy marker and couldn't really get the shading done perfectly.

I also stamped BB: Postmarks over the entire pocket using Soft Stone ink. Did faux stitching since I can't sew and added Silver Liquid Pearls to the dots for subtle accents.
For my insert, I framed the sides using Life stamp set and added sentiment from Harvest Berries since I didn't have any Father's Day or Father related sentiments in my collection. Added Soft Stone ribbon as a final touch.

P.S I really love the Soft Stone ink. It gives such a subtle effect.

Supplies Used:
Papers - PTI Lemon Tart, Soft Stone
Inks - PTI Soft Stone, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, JBS Brown Sugar
Stamps - PTI Lovely Leaves, BB Postmarks, Life, Harvest Berries
Others - Ranger Liquid Pearls Silver, WRMK 1/4" Corner Chomper, Zig Pen Brown, Copics

Shimelle's Challenge #11: Snapshots Of Leslie Gulch

I recently came across Sketch Support and I really wondered what took me so long to know about them. I just love the sketches they post on their blog and also the layouts from the design team are just awesome and inspirational. Their sketches are available for downloads so it definitely makes it convenient when I need referring. I was most interested in their 2-pages sketches as I tend to have a little problem with them.

Basing my layout from their 2-page Sketch #11, here is my take:

I basically followed the sketch closely with just variations to the photo sizes. Since following Shimelle's classes, free and paid, choosing papers is no longer deemed as a chore and I actually do enjoy that process now. For my embellishments, I used PTI Turning A New Leaf stamp set. I love how they look as embellishments. I wished I had bought the die although fussy cutting can be therapeutic. Definitely going to look into incorporating more stamped images in my layouts. I'm entering this layout to Shimelle's Challenge #11: Two Patterns.

Supplies Used:
Paper - Sidewalk by October Afternoon, Mr Campy by Cosmo Cricket, Studio Calico Kits from various months, Documented by Simple Stories, PTI Vintage Cream
Stamps - PTI Turning A New Leaf
Inks - PTI Fine Linen, Ranger Distress Ink Vintage Photo
Others - Snapshot 1 by Kerri Bradford, Silhouette SD, Cosmo Cricket Stickers

Sunday CAS Challenge With Outlawz Apr 1st - Welcome, Little One

The challenge at Outlawz this week is to create a CAS card that is "youthful".

So happens my friend since high school will be having their first child in May. I thought it would be fitting to do him a card and send it together with a gift box for the baby.

Here is my card:

I saw a faux embossing technique and thought to give it a try. I added a little stickles at the star on the onesie.

Supplies Used:
Papers - SU Crumb Cake, PTI Spring Rain
Inks - Ranger Distress Ink Vintage Photo, HA Cup of Joe, Soft Pool
Stamps - PTI Hanging Out
Others - PTI Super Stars Die, Hanging Out Die, Ranger Stickles Crystal, Pop Dots

PTI MIM #60 - Beyond The Clouds

Today's PTI Make It Monday #60 is on Generational Stamping. I have tried this technique before but not using an array of colors.

The technique is really fun with beautiful effects and depending on the colors used, you can get even 3 - 4 generational stamping out of 1 inked stamp.

Here is my take:
I started this card with noone specifically to give to but as I was creating, I got to know that one of my mum's friend's daughter is facing some health issues. The family has been a great support to my family especially my mum during difficult times and it's sad to know that life isn't going too well for them at present.

There are so many meaningful sentiments from PTI. I was also contemplating to use a couple of sentiments from Beautiful Blessings but decided to go with this. The card was also embossed with canvas impression plate.  I'm so loving the subtle texture it gives especially on 1-layered cards.

Supplies Used:
Papers - PTI Rustic Cream
Inks - PTI Pure Poppy, Melon Sorbet, Autumn Rose, Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold, JBS Brown Sugar, Ranger Distress Inks Antique Linen, Vintage Photo
Stamps - PTI Beautiful Butterflies, Movers & Shakers Sentiments, Framed Out #1, Homemade Hodgepodge
Others - PTI Canvas IP, AC Twine White, Hero Arts Mixed Accents

PTI March 2012 & For Janelle Blog Hop

I was contemplating if I wanted to participate in the blog hop and decided to do it at the very last minute. Being a slow crafter, I barely made it to submission. Anyway the challenge for this month is based on the inspiration photo below:

Here is my take:
I thought the colors look really cheery and spring and thought to base my card on that. The dandelion stamp looks faint as it is 2nd generation stamped. I wanted it to look like it was floating around in the background.

So happens, another blog hop is also taking place. I got to read about it yesterday and it is for Janelle. I don't know her and  didn't know about her until this blog hop and got to read her story. No words can describe what she and her family is going through. I just wanted to send in my encouragement as I do understand to a certain extent. My youngest sister had brain tumor.

I just want to end with a note that God has a plan and a purpose for all of us. I'm touched with Janelle's sharing of Psalms. They truly brought my parents and I comfort and peace during those difficult times. May God bless you, Janelle & Ken as well as your family.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Stamper's Select White, Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist
Pattern Paper - Candy Shoppe Collection by Echo Park
Inks - PTI Smokey Shadow, Harvest Gold, Aqua Mist, Spring Moss, New Leaf, JBS Lemon Tart, Ranger Distress Ink Antique Linen, Vintage Photo
Stamps - PTI Daydreamer, Simple Sunflowers
Others - PTI Linen IP, Mat Stack 4 Die, Mat Stack 4 Layerz Die, Hero Arts Mixed Accents, AC Crochet Lace, Carribean Twine by The Twinery, 1/4" Scor Tape, Pop Dots

I've been following Stephanie Mino's blog and have seen her takes on the Outlawz Sunday CAS challenges. Decided to check it out and joined Outlawz a few weeks ago. This is my first participation since joining the group.

The challenge for this week:

"One of the flowers most associated with March is the narcissus (Wild Daffodil). Narcissus is also known as Lent Lily because it blooms in early spring and the blooms are usually dropping before Easter. Create any Clean And Simple project that has a floral theme this week!"

I have some PTI goodies not inked up and thought it would be a good time to do so.

Here is my take:

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 10 - Wish Big

I attempted another interactive card and this time I did one with a track. Since I didn't have foam tape, I had to use so much of my pop dots :( Not liking that part.

Here is my card:

It was a fun attempt although a little time consuming. With the help of the dies that PTI is offering, these cards will be completed in a flash. I'll need to replenish my supplies too.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Smokey Shadow, Soft Stone, Stampers' Select White
Stamps: PTI Rosie Posie, Big & Bold Wishes
Ink - JBS Stick Candy, HA Bubble Gum, Versafine Onyx Black
Others - PTI Rosie Posie Dies, Lace Impression Plate, Zing Embossing Powder White, Versamark, Pop Dots
