PTI 6th Year Watercolor Challenge - Going To Be Ok

I had some time to participate in Papertrey Ink's Annivesary challenge and today is about watercoloring. Inspired by Kristina Werner's MACM, I used a couple of my favorite distress inks and stamp sets from PTI.

It was fun experimenting and it's been a while I got to try techniques etc. Till later.

Inks - Ranger Distress Inks Shaded Lilac, Everygreen Bough, Versamark

PTI SAF Lights Out - Thinking Of You

I managed to create 3 cards during camp and I was pleased. I'm slow crafter. Nevertheless, I had a great time watching all the tutorials and getting inspired. I was working on this last card which didn't particular fit into any of the challenges. I was inspired by the ribbon techniques shown and also the Stamper's First Aid session.

I had started on this card but didn't like it so I saved whatever possible and ended with this:

My craft table is a mess but I'm too tired to clean up. And before I sign off, A Big Thank You to Papertrey Ink and all the team members for this awesome camp.

Papers - PTI Dark Chocolate, Lemon Tart, Melon Berry
Inks - PTI Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Classic Kraft, SU Chocolate Chip
Stamps - The Sweet Life, BB: Medallions, (Sentiment by HA)
Others - PTI The Sweet Life Dies, Satin Ribbon, Lace Impression Plate, MFT Oval Scallop Doily, Pop Dots

PTI SAF Card Set Challenge

This challenge is to create a card set using either one of the showcased tutorials or designing my own. To date, I've not done any card sets. I saw and loved Jessica Witty's tutorial and decided to use her technique for my cards. The tutorial also features packaging but I have limited supply and decided to recycle a clear box that comes with my stamps.

Here is my take:

I changed a little on the design and I also did a 'kissing technique' using various stamps on 2 of the bigger butterflies. I definitely see myself using this embossing technique again.

Papers - PTI Stampers Select White
Inks - PTI Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Simply Chartreuse, New Leaf, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Smokey Shadow, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Winter Wisteria, Lavender Moon, Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Hibiscus Burst
Stamps - Beautiful Butterflies, Tag-Its, Framed Out, Postmarks, Polka Dot Basics, BB: Houndstooth,  Half & Half, HA Lattice Background
Others - PTI Beautiful Butterflies Die, Double Ended Banner Die, Tag-Its Die, Harvest Gold Felt, Harvest Gold Button, Hemp cord, Hot Glue

PTI SAF Limited Supply Challenge - Life Is Sweet

The challenge is to recreate or design your own card using the limited supply list below:
  • STAMPS: Natural Beauties only (or another floral set as a substitute if needed)
  • PAPERS: Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse
  • RIBBON: Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dot
  • BUTTONS: Simply Chartreuse
Here is my card:

Since I used The Sweet Life to substitute Natural Beauties on my first make-n-take card, I decided to use the same set for this challenge. I hit a few stumbling blocks as I started creating. Realized I only had scrap pieces of Aqua Mist card stock and my Stamper's White card stock were down to 6-7 sheets. I was also glad to find some Simply Chartreuse buttons in my holiday mixed buttons that I bought some time ago which PTI no longer sells.

Supplies Used:

Papers - PTI Stampers Select White, Simply Chartreuse, Aqua Mist
Inks - PTI Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Ocean Tides, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise
Stamps - The Sweet Life
Others - PTI Holiday Mixed Buttons,  Scallop Die, WRMK 1/2" Corner Chomper

PTI MIM #68 - Take Time To Remember

This week's PTI's MIM #68 is on pocket cards.

I wanted to do a card for Father's Day using this technique. I do not own any masculine stamp sets so I decided to choose something pretty neutral. Not sure if the card turned out on the girly side. I chose Lemon Tart as my base as yellow is my dad's favorite color.

Here is my take:

I used Copic marker to add a little shading to the leaves. Turned out I had a super juicy marker and couldn't really get the shading done perfectly.

I also stamped BB: Postmarks over the entire pocket using Soft Stone ink. Did faux stitching since I can't sew and added Silver Liquid Pearls to the dots for subtle accents.
For my insert, I framed the sides using Life stamp set and added sentiment from Harvest Berries since I didn't have any Father's Day or Father related sentiments in my collection. Added Soft Stone ribbon as a final touch.

P.S I really love the Soft Stone ink. It gives such a subtle effect.

Supplies Used:
Papers - PTI Lemon Tart, Soft Stone
Inks - PTI Soft Stone, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, JBS Brown Sugar
Stamps - PTI Lovely Leaves, BB Postmarks, Life, Harvest Berries
Others - Ranger Liquid Pearls Silver, WRMK 1/4" Corner Chomper, Zig Pen Brown, Copics

PTI MIM #60 - Beyond The Clouds

Today's PTI Make It Monday #60 is on Generational Stamping. I have tried this technique before but not using an array of colors.

The technique is really fun with beautiful effects and depending on the colors used, you can get even 3 - 4 generational stamping out of 1 inked stamp.

Here is my take:
I started this card with noone specifically to give to but as I was creating, I got to know that one of my mum's friend's daughter is facing some health issues. The family has been a great support to my family especially my mum during difficult times and it's sad to know that life isn't going too well for them at present.

There are so many meaningful sentiments from PTI. I was also contemplating to use a couple of sentiments from Beautiful Blessings but decided to go with this. The card was also embossed with canvas impression plate.  I'm so loving the subtle texture it gives especially on 1-layered cards.

Supplies Used:
Papers - PTI Rustic Cream
Inks - PTI Pure Poppy, Melon Sorbet, Autumn Rose, Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold, JBS Brown Sugar, Ranger Distress Inks Antique Linen, Vintage Photo
Stamps - PTI Beautiful Butterflies, Movers & Shakers Sentiments, Framed Out #1, Homemade Hodgepodge
Others - PTI Canvas IP, AC Twine White, Hero Arts Mixed Accents

Lawnscaping Challenge #30 - Enjoy Your Day

It's been some time since I participated in Lawnscaping challenges. I bought some Lawn Fawn goodies recently and there's no better time to join in the current challenge.

My card was mainly inspired by 2 crafters. Chari was one of them with her mirror image of the flamingoes and this other card with the Gnome Sweet Gnome set. Vicky also inspired me through her How-to video last Sunday and I just loved the Spring scene she created.

Here is my card:
My sister bought some liquid appliqués for me from Korea. I wanted her to get me the Korean pens but she couldn't find it and bought me an equivalent. She wanted to see the effects so I used it on the gnomes. I thought they were just so cute and their hats and beards were perfect to use appliqué on. Think I'll need to add more of the appliqué to get more poofs with the Korean ones.  I used white appliqué by Marvy for their beards. I also added glaze on their belts.

I'm also submitting this card to the Outlawz CAS March 25th Challenge. The challenge this week is to create a CAS card that uses something warm & fuzzy (Think felt, pompom trim, yarn...)

Supplies Used:
Pattern Paper - Bright Side by Lawn Fawn
Inks - Memento Tuxedo Black, London Fog, Ranger Distress Inks Tumbled Glass, Broken China
Stamps - Lawn Fawn Gnome Sweet Gnome, Bannerific, Bon Voyage, Harold's ABCs
Others - Copics, Liquid Applique White by Marvy, Korean Pens, Sakura Glaze Pens, Pop Dots

PTI March 2012 & For Janelle Blog Hop

I was contemplating if I wanted to participate in the blog hop and decided to do it at the very last minute. Being a slow crafter, I barely made it to submission. Anyway the challenge for this month is based on the inspiration photo below:

Here is my take:
I thought the colors look really cheery and spring and thought to base my card on that. The dandelion stamp looks faint as it is 2nd generation stamped. I wanted it to look like it was floating around in the background.

So happens, another blog hop is also taking place. I got to read about it yesterday and it is for Janelle. I don't know her and  didn't know about her until this blog hop and got to read her story. No words can describe what she and her family is going through. I just wanted to send in my encouragement as I do understand to a certain extent. My youngest sister had brain tumor.

I just want to end with a note that God has a plan and a purpose for all of us. I'm touched with Janelle's sharing of Psalms. They truly brought my parents and I comfort and peace during those difficult times. May God bless you, Janelle & Ken as well as your family.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Stamper's Select White, Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist

Sunday CAS Challenge With Outlawz Mar 11th - Just Thinking Of You

I've been following Stephanie Mino's blog and have seen her takes on the Outlawz Sunday CAS challenges. Decided to check it out and joined Outlawz a few weeks ago. This is my first participation since joining the group.

The challenge for this week:

"One of the flowers most associated with March is the narcissus (Wild Daffodil). Narcissus is also known as Lent Lily because it blooms in early spring and the blooms are usually dropping before Easter. Create any Clean And Simple project that has a floral theme this week!"

I have some PTI goodies not inked up and thought it would be a good time to do so.

Here is my take:

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 10 - Dream

It's Day 10 of Papertrey Ink's 5th Anniversary festivities and we are coming to an end of it. It's been pretty enjoying participating in the challenges and the challenges push me to create and use my brains.

Today's challenge is to do interactive cards. I've honestly not done any of such cards before so it was really a challenge as I think through the process of doing one. As my clock was ticking since I only started working on my cards around 7pm, I decided to do a track interactive card since I felt that was the easier one compared to the rest that were showcased. As I was digging through my stash of dies, I chanced upon this flower die that I thought I could improvise and try a spiral pop-up card.

Here is my first attempt:

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Vintage Cream
Stamps: PTI Daydreamer, Fillable Frames #10
Ink - JBS Brown Sugar, Lavender Sachet, Chewing Gum, Stick Candy, HA Bubble Gum
Others - MFT Rolled Flower Die, PTI Fillable Frames #10 Die, 1/4" Scor Tape

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 9 - Thinking Of You

I haven't been able to join in the festivities for the last few days and we are at Day 9 now. Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it.

Today's challenge is to incorporate leaves and butterflies into our cards. I went through my collection and decided to ink up my new stamp set "Turning A New Leaf" and I also realized I actually do not own any butterflies set from PTI. Beautiful Butterflies will definitely go into my cart this month. I just love those butterflies that Maile designed.

I'm inspired by Nicole Heady to try new color combos which I hardly use. I just love looking at her creations during every monthly release and here is my card:
This is the 2nd Hero Arts mid-tone shadow ink pads that I've bought and tried and I must say I really love it. Many inks actually do not give a crisp impression especially when using solid stamps. And I've tried the mid-tone shadow inks with a couple of solid stamps (in varying sizes) and the impressions come out almost perfect except for those caused by my own mistakes. I'm definitely checking out the other colors.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Vellum
Pattern Papers: Dwell by My Mind's Eye
Stamps: PTI Turning A New Leaf, Think Big Favs #7
Ink - HA Field Greens, White
Others - PTI Signature Butterfly Die, Butterfly Die, Studio G Gems, Versamark, AC Embossing Powder White, Pop Dots

Supplies Used:

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 2 - Hello

I'm on the roll here. Actually made 3 cards which is pretty rare.

My final card uses an image designed by Maile Belles. I love her creativity and her stamp sets. Have a few on my wish list.

Here is my card:
Using the Quatrefoil plate for the first time and I really like it! No stamping on this one and it's a first too. I lightly inked the entire digital image with Antique Linen since I printed it on white card stock.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Vintage Cream, Berry Sorbet, Raspberry Fizz (I think), True Black
Ink - Ranger Distress Ink Antique Linen
Others - PTI Heart Border Die, Limitless Layers Die, Quatrefoil Plate, Copics
