Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 10 - Wish Big

I attempted another interactive card and this time I did one with a track. Since I didn't have foam tape, I had to use so much of my pop dots :( Not liking that part.

Here is my card:

It was a fun attempt although a little time consuming. With the help of the dies that PTI is offering, these cards will be completed in a flash. I'll need to replenish my supplies too.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Smokey Shadow, Soft Stone, Stampers' Select White
Stamps: PTI Rosie Posie, Big & Bold Wishes
Ink - JBS Stick Candy, HA Bubble Gum, Versafine Onyx Black
Others - PTI Rosie Posie Dies, Lace Impression Plate, Zing Embossing Powder White, Versamark, Pop Dots

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 10 - Dream

It's Day 10 of Papertrey Ink's 5th Anniversary festivities and we are coming to an end of it. It's been pretty enjoying participating in the challenges and the challenges push me to create and use my brains.

Today's challenge is to do interactive cards. I've honestly not done any of such cards before so it was really a challenge as I think through the process of doing one. As my clock was ticking since I only started working on my cards around 7pm, I decided to do a track interactive card since I felt that was the easier one compared to the rest that were showcased. As I was digging through my stash of dies, I chanced upon this flower die that I thought I could improvise and try a spiral pop-up card.

Here is my first attempt:

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Vintage Cream
Stamps: PTI Daydreamer, Fillable Frames #10
Ink - JBS Brown Sugar, Lavender Sachet, Chewing Gum, Stick Candy, HA Bubble Gum
Others - MFT Rolled Flower Die, PTI Fillable Frames #10 Die, 1/4" Scor Tape

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 9 - Thinking Of You

I haven't been able to join in the festivities for the last few days and we are at Day 9 now. Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it.

Today's challenge is to incorporate leaves and butterflies into our cards. I went through my collection and decided to ink up my new stamp set "Turning A New Leaf" and I also realized I actually do not own any butterflies set from PTI. Beautiful Butterflies will definitely go into my cart this month. I just love those butterflies that Maile designed.

I'm inspired by Nicole Heady to try new color combos which I hardly use. I just love looking at her creations during every monthly release and here is my card:
This is the 2nd Hero Arts mid-tone shadow ink pads that I've bought and tried and I must say I really love it. Many inks actually do not give a crisp impression especially when using solid stamps. And I've tried the mid-tone shadow inks with a couple of solid stamps (in varying sizes) and the impressions come out almost perfect except for those caused by my own mistakes. I'm definitely checking out the other colors.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Vellum
Pattern Papers: Dwell by My Mind's Eye
Stamps: PTI Turning A New Leaf, Think Big Favs #7
Ink - HA Field Greens, White
Others - PTI Signature Butterfly Die, Butterfly Die, Studio G Gems, Versamark, AC Embossing Powder White, Pop Dots

And here is my card:

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Stamper's Select White, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist
Stamps: Beautiful Blooms II, Think Big Favs #3
Ink - JBS Lemon Drops, Malted Milk, Chewing Gum, Momento London Fog

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 2 - Hello

I'm on the roll here. Actually made 3 cards which is pretty rare.

My final card uses an image designed by Maile Belles. I love her creativity and her stamp sets. Have a few on my wish list.

Here is my card:
Using the Quatrefoil plate for the first time and I really like it! No stamping on this one and it's a first too. I lightly inked the entire digital image with Antique Linen since I printed it on white card stock.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Vintage Cream, Berry Sorbet, Raspberry Fizz (I think), True Black
Ink - Ranger Distress Ink Antique Linen
Others - PTI Heart Border Die, Limitless Layers Die, Quatrefoil Plate, Copics

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 2 - LOVE

My 2nd card uses an image designed by Melissa Bickford. I also love her Flower Fusion series although I don't ink them up enough.

Here is my card:
I LOVE the colors on that image and the postage stamp look. I definitely am excited to see what stamp sets she will be coming up with for 2012.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Stamper's Select White
Pattern Papers - Candy Shoppe Collection by Echo ParkStamps - PTI Flower Fusion #10

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 2 - Wishing You

Day 2 focuses on Papertrey Ink designers. There are some designers whom I don't know and I can't wait to see their designs this year. There are a few stamp sets that I owned designed by these various ladies that are my favorite. My top favorite is Peaceful Garden by Lisa Johnson. This is one stamp set that I use most  often too. I really love the peaceful feel that the images from the stamp set gives and when you convey that to your card.

Today's challenge is to use a digital image designed by the 2012 PTI designers and incorporate them into our cards.

My first card uses an image designed by Dawn McVey and she is one of my favorite designers:
The challenges from this anniversary festivities are giving me opportunities to use some of my untouched stamp sets and seldom used colors. This is one of them.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Rustic White, Terracotta Tile, Berry Sorbet, SU Crumb Cake
Stamps - PTI Iconic Images
Inks - JBS Chewing Gum, Malted Milk, HA Bubble Gum
Others - PTI Limited Layers Die, Tag Sale #3 Die, MFT Open Scallop Doily Duo Dies, PTI 1/4" White Silk Ribbon, Pop Dots

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 1 - Celebrate Today

I managed to work on another card and this time, I took inspiration from Lisa Johnson's favorite card.
Here is my take:
I used Lace Boutique and white embossed. Either I chose the wrong stamp set or I should work with a finer embossing powder. It didn't show off the details of the lace and instead made the flowers look as if they were silhouettes. Anyway it's a good thing most of it is being covered up by my Mat Stack 4 die cut.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Autumn Rose, Spring Moss, Lemon Tart, Vintage Cream, SU Crumb Cake
Stamps - PTI Daydreamer, Mat Stack 4 Collection, Polka Dot Basics II, Lace Boutique, Think Big Favs #4, Background Basics: Woodgrain
Inks - JBS Stick Candy, Lemon Drops, Brown Sugar, SU Crumb Cake, Ranger Distress Ink Victorian Velvet, Antique Linen
Others - PTI Heart Border Die, Mat Stack 4 Die, Fillable Frame #10, PTI 1/4" White Silk Ribbon, Zing Embossing Powder White, Versamark, Pop Dots

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary Day 1 - Happy Birthday

Today is the 1st Day of Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversary celebration. It's also my first time joining in on the festivities. I made my first order from Papertrey Ink in May 2011 and it's one of my favorite companies to date. I just love all the works from every one on the design team. I also find that it's really sweet to be able to know them better through their personal blogs, etc.

Anyway on to today's challenge. I was inspired by Dawn McVey's favorite card.
Here is my take:

I received my Rosie Posie stamp set recently. I loved it the moment I saw it in the release. It's definitely in my favorites list. Mat Stack 4 (which is the only Mat Stack I own out of the entire collection) is also in my favorites list. I didn't have a Birthday sentiment that fit in the die cut so had to use one from Hero Arts.

Supplies Used:
Paper - PTI Stamper's Select White, Pure Poppy, SU Crumb Cake
Stamps - PTI Rosie Posie,  Lace Boutique, Harvest Berries, Beautiful Blooms II, HA Birthday Messages
Inks - HA Bubble Gum, JBS Chewing Gum, Brown Sugar, SU Riding Hood Red, Ranger Distress Inks Antique Linen
Others - PTI Rosie Posie Dies, Open-Ended Banner Dies, Mat Stack 4 Die, Pop Dots

LO - Snow Fall From Heaven

I've been wanting to scrapbook for the longest time. In fact, I had made up my mind to document my life in the States since I got here in 2010. Unfortunately, I have no prior scrapbooking experience and although there are so many wonderful inspirations on the blogs especially from Two Peas, I felt that it was daunting and I wasn't sure the style I wanted for my layouts and I just procrastinated.

Despite that, I was passionately storing up my 12x12 papers. I fell in love with Echo Park and bought a few of their collection kits. I also subscribed to Studio Calico's monthly kits and they all ended up collecting dust.

To cut the long story short, I decided to stop procrastinating and for 2 days, I started sorting out the papers from my Studio Calico kits and plan the papers and supplies I wanted to use for my layout.

Drawing inspiration from a sketch from my PageMaps Sketch 2 book which I bought for a year or so, I'm very happy to say that I've finally finally completed the first layout. I'm also very happy with how my first attempt turned out.
The most difficult part of the process I felt was finding the right papers to use. I felt that I was limited to the choices from my Studio Calico kits and I also realized that while the monthly kits are awesome, they aren't for me, at least not right now. I'm still a novice at scrapbooking and it's really difficult to use papers that don't speak to me. I spent half the time choosing papers that I wanted to incorporate in my layout and half of the papers I had were not the styles that I would have chosen if I were to buy them from the shelf. With that, I've also decided to terminate my subscription and just buy papers that I really like to use on my layouts.

I'm glad to have taken that first step and I'll definitely try to finish documenting my life here by the time I'm due to head back home.

Supplies Used:
Paper - Studio Calico Kits, American Crafts, My Mind's Eye Dwell & 12 Days Of Christmas
Stamps - HA Envelope
Others - MFT Let It Snowflake Die, PTI Buttons, OA Label Stickers, AC Twine
